National Doctor’s Day 2024

National Doctor’s Day 2024

What do we mean by a “DOCTOR”?

The word doctor had a different meaning back in the time. The ancient Latin word “docere” translates as “to teach” and has nothing to do with medicine. This is the origin of the contemporary term doctor. Now, the word doctor has many synonyms including “Hero”, “Saviour”, and “Messiah”.

Do you know when that word became a staple in the medical world?

In the 1600s, medical colleges started using the term “doctor” to designate graduates as a sign of honor. Ever since it became the title to honor the lifesavers of the community.

Each year on 1 July, India celebrates National Doctor’s Day. The day recognizes professionals’ commitment and services to society and their fellow citizens. It is an opportunity to say “thank you” to our physicians for their wonderful contributions to mankind.

The occasion recognizes physicians’ persistent devotion to treatment and medical care and pays attention to their competence, compassion, and tenacity.  Doctors’ Day allows us to express our heartfelt thanks for the efforts and lives these heroes have saved in a world where medical issues and health crises are common.

What is the theme of the National Doctor’s Day 2024?

“Healing Hands, Caring Hearts” is the topic of celebration this year.

What is the importance of National Doctor’s Day?

  • Expressing gratitude

National Doctor’s Day is an opportunity to express our appreciation to physicians. They work diligently to maintain our health. Their commitment is sometimes overlooked.

  • Addressing challenges

Doctors confront several problems. Long hours, difficult work situations, and limited resources are some examples. This day promotes awareness of these topics. It fosters support for improved working conditions.

  • Inspiring generations to come

National Doctor’s Day encourages young people to recognize physicians. It emphasizes the necessity of physicians. It motivates the coming new generation to follow in their footsteps.

How important are AYUSH Doctors in the healthcare system?

AYUSH practitioners are critical to the Indian healthcare system as they are acknowledged and valued for delivering a comprehensive approach to health. Holistic wellness takes into account a person’s psychological, emotional, physical, and spiritual health. They also educate patients on healthy lifestyles and self-care practices that can enhance overall health and avoid illness. Another important duty of AYUSH physicians is to help individuals manage chronic health issues like as diabetes, heart disease, and arthritis, which improves their whole quality of life.

Homoeopathy has always been an integrated part of healthcare in India since 1810. It is one of the safest systems of medicine. The government and other ministries operate 235 hospitals and 8117 clinics that offer homeopathic medical care. One of the NRHM’s primary initiatives is to merge the Indian medical system with homeopathy to improve medical services in these locations. In 2015, Ayush facilities were constructed in 512 district healthcare facilities, 2739 community health clinics, and 9112 primary health centers via the National Rural Health Mission. Dr. Pranab Mukherjee, the previous president of India, launched the “Ayush Wellness Centre” on July 25, 2015, at the Presidential Residence in New Delhi.

Thank you fellow doctors for the special, great care you’ve given your patients and for being such an exceptional present to them.

BJain Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd. and its whole team wish you a “Happy National Doctor’s Day”.
